Black Spire III: A Twisted King
The Wild West
The origin of the greenskins is unclear to most civilized races. They keep no records of their own, and their oral traditions are a mishmash of contradictory stories that make little sense to an outside observer.
What is known is that the greenskins originated in the west, either in the farthest depths of the Greenwood or on the other side of it – but not even the wood elves have delved far enough west to know if the forest ever ends. The forest is savage there, wild, untamed, and primeval, and enormous tribes of goblins roam it, probably simply staying in the West because they have no idea that anything exists further east. Fortunately, goblins are bad enough at communication that word never seems to have spread from their eastern kin.
The eastern goblins seldom leave the forest, and are almost only found within the Hag Fens – but the orcs have made raids outside it, and even established themselves on plains that were once ruled by Men. The Alkerathi Kingdoms must frequently deal with raids, particularly from the south. A particularly large tribe lives just east of Stonehaven, in the mountains – the home of Ironcrow and previous holders of The Chief-Stone.
